Sagarika Venkat is an accomplished young Bharatanatyam dancer based in Sydney, Australia, known for her early mastery and dedication to the classical Indian dance form. She commenced her Bharatanatyam training at the age of five under the tutelage of her mother, Manjula Vishwanath, a renowned dancer and teacher who founded the Rasika Dance Academy. Sagarika performed her arangetram, a significant debut solo performance titled "Swapnam: My Dreams," on May 18, 2019, at the remarkably young age of nine. This demanding 3.5-hour solo presentation showcased her exceptional talent and discipline. Her commitment to dance extends to charitable endeavors; she performed another 2-hour solo show less than two years after her arangetram to raise funds for a child in India, and her "Bhakthi" solo performance in June 2021 successfully raised $2200 for the education of an underprivileged child in Bangalore. For her work in classical Indian dance and her philanthropic contributions, Sagarika was recognized with a 'Highly Commended' award and was a finalist for the Young Citizen of the Year award at the Hills Shire Council in January 2022. She has graced stages across Australia, California (USA), and South India, demonstrating her artistry internationally. Sagarika has also dabbled in modeling and has expressed aspirations to pursue acting, alongside her primary goal of continuing her dance career as a professional performer or teacher, and to leverage her art for societal good.
