Sangeeta Sharma is a prominent Indian contemporary dancer and choreographer, recognized for her extensive career spanning over three decades. She is a disciple of the late Shri Narendra Sharma, a significant figure in Indian contemporary dance and a student of Uday Shankar, a pioneer of the form. Sharma's training also includes Western Contemporary Dance, having studied the Laban & Limon Technique in America in 1993. Her artistic style is further influenced by traditional Indian martial and folk dance forms such as Chhau and Kathakali. Sharma has been actively performing and choreographing since approximately 1986. Early in her career, she served as the assistant director of Bhoomika, a professional dance company based in Delhi. She has choreographed numerous dance productions on diverse subjects, presenting them at national and international festivals. Sangeeta Sharma is the founder and artistic director of the Anveshana Society for Performing Arts, through which she directs and choreographs various productions. Her work often explores themes that blend art, culture, and devotion, and she is known for her ability to connect with audiences through dynamic and expressive performances.
