Sanjib Bhattacharya is a highly accomplished Manipuri Dance Exponent, Guru, and renowned Choreographer, recognized both in India and internationally. He received comprehensive training in Manipuri dance under the tutelage of esteemed gurus such as Guru Bipin Singh, Padmashri Darshana Jhaveri, and Kalavati Devi. He further expanded his artistic repertoire by training in Contemporary Dance with Manjushree Chaki Sircar and Mamata Shankar. Throughout his extensive career, Bhattacharya has established himself as a performer of great repute, gracing stages across India and numerous countries abroad. He performs as a solo artist and has collaborated with iconic figures of Indian classical dance, including Padmavibhushan Sonal Mansingh, Padmashri Darshana Jhaveri, Padmashri Ranjana Gauhar, and Sadanam Balakrishnan. His performances have been featured in prestigious festivals like Khajuraho, Konark, and Uday Shankar in India, as well as international events such as the Raas Utsav in Bangladesh, Rath Yatra Festival in Los Angeles, and festivals in Helsinki and Poland. As a dedicated educator, Sanjib Bhattacharya imparts his knowledge through the traditional guru-shishya system, having taught over 25,000 students across four decades. He founded "Movements in Motion," an academy with studios in San Ramon, Fremont, and San Jose, California, dedicated to training serious Manipuri dancers. He also runs several other dance academies and institutions globally. His teaching encompasses Manipuri classical dance, contemporary movement, the traditional Manipuri drum (pung), and the "Dance Sutra" wellness program. Bhattacharya regularly conducts lecture-demonstrations and workshops worldwide and has served as a visiting artist, lecturer, and choreographer at various universities, including UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, and the University of Pittsburgh.
