Sarra Whicheloe

Sarra Whicheloe is a Bharatanatyam dancer and Iyengar Yoga teacher based in the United Kingdom. Her journey into Indian classical dance began in 1998 when she traveled to South India to learn the art form. She studied Bharatanatyam with Guru Kalamandalam Sumathy in Perumbavoor, Kerala, living with her and performing at Temple festivals. She also had connections with other Bharatanatyam teachers in Chennai and London. Whicheloe co-created the Beeja Dance company with Anusha Subramanyam and has worked as a performing artist and community dance practitioner. In 2007, she performed a Solo Bharatanatyam Margam at the Nehru Centre. She also developed "Moving Mudra," a conscious dance practice rooted in Bharatanatyam, which she facilitates for individuals and groups. Beyond dance, Sarra Whicheloe is a dedicated Iyengar Yoga teacher, having first studied yoga at university in England in 1993. She became a Yoga Alliance 500-hour yoga teacher in 2000 and began teaching her first yoga classes in 2001. She moved to Cranleigh, Surrey, in 2008, where she focused on full-time yoga teaching.
