Sharron Rose, M.A. Ed., is an internationally acclaimed teacher, writer, performer, filmmaker, choreographer, composer, and author. She initially trained in classical Western arts, including ballet, opera, and theatre, receiving a diploma from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Maryland, and an M.A. in Education from George Washington University. Her journey into Eastern spiritual and performative arts began in the late 1960s, leading her to yoga and meditation. In the late 1970s, a "visionary experience" led her to Indian classical dance. From 1983 to 1988, with the support of a Professional Development Grant from the American Institute of Indian Studies and a Fulbright Senior Research Fellowship, Rose undertook extensive research in North India. During this period, she became the first American disciple of the legendary Kathak dancer Sitara Devi, known as the "Queen of Kathak dance," and was initiated into ancient feminine yogic arts. Rose is recognized for her ability to blend Eastern and Western cultural heritage, translating ancient themes into expressive forms through dance, ritual, drama, and song. Her work in Kathak is characterized by its improvisational nature and storytelling talent. Beyond her dance career, she has been active in video production, directing, acting, choreographing, and producing. In the late 1980s, she created "Lotus Mind" and directed a series on "The Art of Choreography" for Jamia Millia University in New Delhi. In 2000, she co-founded Sacred Mysteries with her husband, Jay Weidner, a company through which she has produced and distributed numerous films. She is the author of "The Path of the Priestess: A Guidebook for Awakening the Divine Feminine" and has created the world music and dance performance project "Shakti's Bliss." Rose has also investigated and imparted wisdom from various ancient traditions, including Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, Daoism, Egyptian temple dance, Kabbalah, and Gnosticism.
