Dr. Soundarya Srivatsa is a highly regarded Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and educator based in Bengaluru, India. She is recognized for her strong foundation in the Pandanallur School of dance, having been a disciple of Guru Smt. Narmada. Further enriching her artistry, she also received extensive training in abhinaya from Guru B. Bhanumathi. Academically accomplished, Soundarya Srivatsa is a gold medalist in her master's degree in Bharatanatyam and holds a Ph.D. from Bangalore University, where her doctoral research explored the intricate relationship between classical dance and cinema. Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Soundarya Srivatsa has achieved significant recognition, including an 'A Top' gradation from Doordarshan and a Senior Fellow Scholarship from the Sangeet Natak Academy New Delhi. She has performed extensively across India at major festivals and Sabhas, and her artistic reach extends internationally with performance tours in the USA, Netherlands, Australia, and Europe. Her choreographic repertoire includes successful dance productions such as 'Tyagaraja', 'Padmanabha Namostuthe', and 'Jagadananda Karaka'. As an educator and institution builder, Dr. Soundarya Srivatsa co-leads Narthana Keerthana, a prominent music and dance institution, alongside her husband, the renowned Carnatic vocalist Vidwan D.S. Srivathsa. Through Narthana Keerthana, she has trained numerous students and is actively involved in organizing music and dance festivals that showcase emerging artists. Her commitment to dance education is further demonstrated by her role in mentoring students for events like the Kalarpana Festival in 2026 and her contributions to international teaching initiatives, including the Bhavan London Summer School. Her disciples are noted to perform globally, continuing her artistic legacy.
