Sriranjani Chandramouli is a distinguished Bharatanatyam performer and teacher, recognized for her proficiency in the distinctive Mellattur style. This particular style is celebrated for its precise *adavus* (basic dance steps) and intricate *jathi* patterns, which necessitate a high degree of flexibility from the dancer. A defining characteristic of Sriranjani's artistry is her exceptional command over rhythmic footwork patterns, a core element of the Mellattur style. This style was originally developed by the highly respected and versatile music and dance exponent, Mangudi Dorairaj Iyer. Sriranjani's extensive training spans over two decades, during which she was mentored by the internationally renowned Bharatanatyam danseuse and Guru, 'Nadana Mamani' Smt Revathi Ramachandran, who currently serves as the director of Kalakshetra. Her training included the invaluable experience of performing alongside her Guru in Chennai and at various prestigious festivals and *sabhas* (cultural organizations) throughout Tamil Nadu. Presently based in Brisbane, Australia, Sriranjani founded the "Shraddha School of Dance" in 2010. Through this institution, she actively continues her dedication to teaching, choreographing, and performing. She adheres to a rigorous traditional teaching methodology, ensuring that her students acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical mastery of the Bharatanatyam repertoire. Sriranjani is committed to transmitting her unique lineage of the Mellattur Style, emphasizing quality training through active engagement, a pedagogical approach she deeply imbibed from her Guru, Smt Revathi Ramachandran. Her performances in Australia include appearances at Carnatic Music Circles, the Laya In-Concert series, various charity events, and multicultural festivals such as Diwali, Pongal, and Onam celebrations, as well as performances in temples across Melbourne and Brisbane, where her artistry has consistently received acclaim. Furthermore, she has collaborated with other local artists to compose and present both solo and group thematic dance works.
