Sudeep Palanad is a classically trained vocalist, composer, and music producer from Kerala, India, known for blending Kathakali tradition with cinematic sensibilities. Born in Pulamantol, Kerala, he is the son of renowned Kathakali singer Palanad Divakaran and Sudha, and the brother of Kathakali singer Deepa Palanad. He began his musical journey learning the basics from his father, and later received advanced training from Sri Vellinezhi Subrahmaniam and Sri Punnappuzha Ramanathan. Sudeep Palanad is a National Scholarship (CCRT) holder for Kathakali Sangeetham, a scholarship he held for ten years. He is an AIR Graded Artist in Kathakali Sangeetham. His debut on stage as a Kathakali singer occurred in 1999 at Guruvayoor, where he performed Kathakalipadam from the story 'Kuchelavritham' alongside his sister Deepa. He has also performed Kathakalipadam "Harinakshi" from Keechakavadham with his father, and recreated the Kathakali Padam "Bana Nandane" from Bana Yudham in a music video. Beyond his classical roots, Sudeep Palanad has established a significant career as a playback singer, composer, and music director in the Malayalam film industry. His playback song "Alhamdulillah" from the film "Sufiyum Sujatayum" brought him widespread recognition in Malayalam cinema. He has composed music for films such as "Shikhamani," "Avicharitha," and "Lasagu Usaga", and his independent musical works like "Charulatha" and "Baale" have received critical acclaim. He has also designed music and sound for various theatre productions. His achievements include winning the Kerala State Youth Festival for Classical Music multiple times, being a runner-up in Swaralaya Gandharva Sangeetham, and receiving awards such as the Satyajit Ray Award for Best Music Video (Charulatha) and the Red FM award for his contribution to independent music. He was also honored with the I V Sasi Memorial Award in 2020 for Best Music Director and the Bharat Murali Award in 2021 for Best Singer.
