Sukanya Deka is an accomplished Indian classical dancer specializing in Sattriya, a traditional dance form from Assam, India. Based in Guwahati, Assam, she has been actively involved in Sattriya dance since September 2015. Deka serves as an Assistant Teacher of Sattriya Dance at Sangeet Sattra, an institution established in 1967, and also teaches at Purbanchal Music and Cultural Hub, both roles she commenced in September 2020. Her training includes studies at CINCAD. Throughout her career, Sukanya Deka has showcased her talent on various platforms, performing in trio recitals that include traditional elements like Krishna Vandana, Gopi Nach, and Borgeet Abhinaya. She has also performed at prestigious events such as the Nritya Parva Festival. Deka has received numerous accolades for her performances, including the Nruthya Vaibhava National Award in 2020, the Bharatiya Kalashree Ratna in 2019, and the Madhavdev Nritya Pratibha Puruskar in 2018. She has also secured top positions in various dance competitions, demonstrating her skill and dedication to the art form.
