Sukriti Sharma is a distinguished Kathak artist and dedicated educator, renowned for her profound adherence to the traditional tenets of the Lucknow Gharana. She commenced her Kathak journey at the age of eight under the tutelage of Guru Shri Ashok Chakraborty. She further honed her artistry through a decade of disciplined training with the esteemed Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Guru Shri Krishan Mohan Mishra at Kathak Kendra in New Delhi. Sharma also completed a rigorous Post Diploma program at Kathak Kendra and holds a degree from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh. For four years, she served as a repertory artist for the legendary Padma Shri Smt. Shovana Narayan, becoming an integral part of her repertoire, ASAVARI. A graded artist with Delhi Doordarshan, Sukriti Sharma has an illustrious performance career spanning continents. In India, she has graced prestigious festivals such as Kathak Mahotsava, Konark Festival, Surya Festival, Khajuraho Festival, and Vasantotsava. In Canada, she has been a vibrant force in the dance community, performing at events like Momentum Festival, Angikam, ArohaFest, Salaam Rehmaan, and Toes for Dance, as well as Kathak Mahotsava Canada (2016 & 2018). She was a core member of Sampradaya Dance Creation's acclaimed production 'Mandala,' which toured extensively across India in 2022. Sharma has collaborated with prominent choreographers including Deepti Gupta, Lata Pada, Tanveer Alam, and Hemant & Vaishali Panwar, and has contributed as a vocalist for the National Ballet of Canada. Deeply committed to education, Sukriti Sharma founded Sukriti Kathakaar, an academy where she teaches Kathak to students of all levels, faithfully imparting the authentic essence of the Lucknow Gharana. She has over 20 years of teaching experience in India and Canada, and has conducted numerous workshops across the Greater Toronto Area. She strives to cultivate a thriving Kathak community in Canada, fostering support and creating opportunities for fellow artists.
