Sweatha Balasundaram is an Indian classical dancer and instructor based in Stockholm, Sweden. Her dance journey began at the age of three, where she commenced her training in Bharatanatyam under the guidance of her mother, Usha Balasundaram, at the Saraswathy Kalakendra Institution of Fine Arts. Demonstrating a passion for diverse dance forms, Sweatha expanded her repertoire to include Mohiniyattam, contemporary, ballet, Bollywood, and Bhangra. She further enriched her dance education by dedicating two years to classical dance studies in India and participating in the Dansprogrammet at Dans och Cirkus Högskolan (DOCH) in Stockholm. Sweatha has performed across various stages in Sweden, captivating audiences with her ability to seamlessly blend traditional and contemporary elements in her choreography. She gained recognition as the winner of a Swedish choreography competition, showcasing her innovative approach and artistic flair. Currently, Sweatha serves as an instructor at Saraswathy Kalakendra, where she continues to teach and nurture aspiring dancers under her mother's guidance, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Indian classical dance.
