Usha Balasundaram is a professional dancer with a lifelong passion for dance and music. She completed a 4-year degree program in Bharatanatyam at Kalakshetra in Chennai, India. After graduation, she explored contemporary dance stemming from Bharatanatyam with Miss. Chandralekha Prabhudas Patel's dance group and collaborated internationally with Pina Bausch. Moving to Sweden in 1997, she founded Saraswathy Kalakendra Institution of Fine Arts in 2002. She has been training Indian and international students in Bharatanatyam for nearly fifteen years and teaches Bharatanatyam to children in Kulturskolan Stockholm and Kulturskolan Botkyrka. She also leads a professional team for choreographies and performances, and has received scholarships and titles for her contributions to culture in Sweden.
