🪔 About

Thiventhiran Sinnathamby embarked on his Bharatanatyam journey under the guidance of Guru Usha Rani Karikeyan at Vsuryam Arts, Johor. His deep passion for Indian classical dance led him to pursue advanced training at Laasya Arts Academy, Kuala Lumpur, in 2016. With unwavering dedication, natural talent, and a constant pursuit of excellence, Thiven mastered the academy’s signature Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam. Under the guidance of esteemed mentors such as Madura Natya Maamani Dr. Guruvayur Usha Dorai (disciple of Guru Smt. Indra Rajan and Guru Shri Pandanallur Srinivasa Pillai) and Guru Shri Abdul Abdullah Hamid, he immersed himself in the rich traditions of this classical art form. His commitment was marked by his Salangai Poojai, titled “Salangaiyin Nadam” in 2017. A defining milestone in his artistic journey was his Bharatanatyam Arangetram, titled “Kanaka Nrityam”, held on 27 November 2021, in conjunction with Laasya Arts Academy’s prestigious 50th Golden Arangetram celebration. He was also conferred the title “Nritya Tara”, recognizing his artistry and dedication. Thiven has performed extensively across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and India. His notable performances include: 6th International Ramayana Festival, India (2022) – sponsored by ICCR SPANDA Collaboration with Tattva, Singapore (2026) Solo performance with Indian Classical Artistes Network, Kuala Lumpur Narthana Purusha (2025, Kuala Lumpur & 2026, Sutera Dance Theatre) Thiven is deeply engaged in the theoretical aspects of Bharatanatyam and the art of Nattuvangam, having trained at Dr. Gurubharadwaj Gurukulam Academy of Fine Arts.
