Kumbakonam K. Bhanumathi (1922–2006) was a distinguished Indian Bharatanatyam dancer, born in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, into a family of traditional dancers, specifically a devadasi family. Her formal training in Bharatanatyam began under the tutelage of Papanasam Vadivelu Nattuvanar, under whom she had her arangetram, or debut performance, at the tender age…
