Meaning

A swarajathi is a Carnatic form with a pallavi, sometimes an anupallavi, and charanams, on themes of devotion or love. It is learnt as a step before the varnam and is performed in both concerts and dance recitals; the Tanjore Quartet placed it in the Bharatanatyam order of items.
