Kausalya Srinivasan is a distinguished Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam. She is recognized for her significant contributions to the art form as a performer, teacher, and cultural ambassador. Srinivasan is the Director of Sunartaka Dance School, based in Chennai, India. Her commitment to dance education extends beyond traditional settings, notably through her initiative to teach Bharatanatyam to underprivileged Irula girls at the Thai Tamil Palli in Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu. This endeavor highlights her dedication to making classical performing arts accessible to all sections of society, fostering confidence and personality development among her students. She has expressed intentions to organize arangetrams for these students and to recommend them for Fulbright scholarships, demonstrating her long-term vision for their artistic and academic growth. Kausalya Srinivasan is also an esteemed Fulbright Scholar, having participated in the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program from January to June 2003. During this period, she served as a Lecturer in Drama/Theater Arts, hosted by Bridgewater State University in the United States. Her expertise is not limited to performance and general instruction; she has also imparted specialized training in Nattuvangam, a crucial rhythmic accompaniment in Bharatanatyam, to other aspiring gurus. Among her notable disciples in Nattuvangam is Guru Smt. Daksha Kantaria, who subsequently founded the Swara Dance Academy and has taught Bharatanatyam in both India and the United States since 1985.
