Pavitra Kumar is an Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam, who has been learning the art form for over 15 years. She received her Bharatanatyam training for 14 years under Smt. Madhusri Sethuraman and performed her arangetram in May 2017 in Dallas. Pavitra Kumar is also trained in Carnatic Music under Dr. Deepa Srinivasan, completing her vocal arangetram in 2021. Kumar actively performs in the DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth) area, across the United States, and in India. Her performances in India include the Chennai December season, where she has graced stages at sabhas such as Brahmagana Sabha, RR Sabha, Saptami Sabha, and Kartik Finearts. In 2019, she had the honor of performing at the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Kovil. She has also participated in events like the "Virtual Danciversary Celebration," performing "Sivoham," and the 4th Annual Margazhi in San Francisco music and dance festival. Pavitra Kumar has also ventured into choreography, creating pieces such as "Gangai Kavithvam." Recognized for her talent, Pavitra Kumar was an awardee for the Dance Council of North Texas in 2020 and received the Saptami Fellowship award in 2021. As a college student, she shares her experiences as a dancer and student on her Instagram page, @pavsdance, aiming to inspire other young artists to continue their passion beyond their graduation performances.
